27 Jan Paloma Architects: Precision as a Method
Paloma Architects was born from the encounter between Lorena Iraldi and Maurizio Melchiori, architects with a solid international background and decades of experience. By uniting their skills, passion, and objectives, Lorena and Maurizio gave life to their own firm, modeled on a shared design philosophy. Founded in 2015, Paloma Architects represents, first and foremost, a shared vision of architecture, synthesized in an expression that defines its identity: creative precision. This concept goes beyond the formal idea of a project and becomes a method, a process, and a responsibility.
“For us, precision is not just an aspect of creativity,” implies Maurizio, “but the ability to combine intuition and discipline, listening and rigor. We follow the project in every phase, from the initial vision to realization, maintaining constant attention to timing, costs, and quality.”
This approach entrusts the architect with a comprehensive role, capable of managing every complexity and necessity.

Paloma was born, in fact, from a need—deeply felt by its founders—to reclaim the profession of the architect in its most authentic sense. After years in which “speed” dominated daily life, Lorena and Maurizio felt the necessity to return to a more classic idea of practicing architecture, without, however, sacrificing efficiency, technical competence, and the ability to respond to the needs of the contemporary market.
“We tried to create something virtuous,” explains Lorena, “staying faithful to attention to detail and love for the project.”
And so, the first step of this authoritative reclamation begins with listening, which translates “into measurable briefs, clear processes, and a structured relationship with the client,” they explain. Today, the architect engages with increasingly competent stakeholders, reduced timeframes, and defined budgets: the challenge is not to lose content, vision, and innovation. “Listening architecture,” as they define it, is what allows for the transformation of technical and functional requirements into spaces that are harmonic, efficient, and endowed with cultural value.

The Paloma studio applies this approach to a wide variety of sectors, from corporate to retail, hospitality to residential. Every project stems from an integrated design process where architecture and engineering work together under a single coordination to give shape to headquarters, evolved workspaces, and new construction or redevelopment projects with strong appeal. Stylistically, the studio is inspired by an essential and rigorous language, capable of giving space to the material and the construction detail.
Natural materials, light, and environmental comfort therefore emerge as fundamental design tools. The importance of sustainability fits within this perspective:
“For us, sustainability must span the entire life cycle of the project, and it must be measurable,” they continue. “At the center, there is always the person. And architecture can truly help to build an ecosystem around them that creates well-being.”
