Paloma Architects has designed Milan’s third Hair Bar, located in via Joe Colombo in the Porta Nuova district. An informal and captivating place, integrated with the digital world to meet the beauty needs and demands for practicality of a young, metropolitan, and mainly business clientele.
The new salon, whose large windows enable passers-by to appreciate at first glance the aesthetics and dynamic approach that make the Hair Bars immediately recognisable, was designed with the aim of creating a unique space combining the concepts of elegance, contrast, and lightness.
In the interior, the sinuous line of the custom-made counter, specifically conceived to accommodate every accessory (brush, dryer, iron,…), creates a soft curve that complements the comfortable chairs. The highly distinctive colour palette illuminates the space and creates a dynamic, sparkling environment. The textural effects of the neutral light grey and green tones on the walls intermingle in a bold succession of contrasts with the powder pink of the chairs and white of the shelves and frames of the video walls.
Above the counter a black “canopy” with incorporated light fixtures follows the same profile and represents the crowning of the salon styling area.
The design was conceived both to be experienced directly and to be put on display: the large windows provide a clear view of this new, easily recognisable space, which lends itself to being modularly replicated in different contexts.
